Bert Visser

Tenor

Bert Visser has been singing almost all his life. At the age of 11 he sang Bach’s Matthäus-Passion in the boys’ choir in Het Concertgebouw, conducted by Piet van Egmond. At a later age he took singing lessons - on the advice of his wife who sang with the Bach Choir Holland - after which he regularly performed the Matthäus-Passion with the Bach Choir Holland. Through singers from that choir Bert got in touch with singing teacher Marianne Blok.

After having studied with her for four years, he auditioned for a position as tenor with Dutch National Opera. In 1991 he was included in the freelance database of the DNO Chorus and was regularly invited for productions. Meanwhile, Bert regularly performed as a soloist in various oratorios with various choirs in the Netherlands, took opera masterclasses with Roberta Alexander and Cristina Deutekom, and received singing lessons from Jan Polak.

Since 1996 Bert has been a permanent member of the Chorus of DNO.
