
Klaus Bruns
German costume designer Klaus Bruns studied set and costume design at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. He regularly works with directors such as Barrie Kosky and Damiano Michieletto. His work has been seen at the Komische Oper Berlin, Opernhaus Zürich, Royal Opera House in London, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Bayreuther Festspiele and Teatro Real Madrid, among others. At Dutch National Opera, he previously worked on a production of Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci, directed by Guy Joosten (2006), on Barrie Kosky’s production of Tosca (2022) and on Jetske Mijnssen’s production of Anna Bolena (2022). Very recently, Bruns designed the costumes of Animal Farm (2023), a new opera by composer Alexander Raskatov that had its world premiere during the Opera Forward Festival.
Klaus Bruns is also responsible for the costumes in Jetske Mijnsen's production of Maria Stuarda, part 2 of the Tudor Trilogy (2023) and finally for the costumes in her Roberto Devereux, part 3 which can be seen April-May 2024 in Dutch National Opera & Ballet.
