Kenza Karin Koutchoukali
Kenza was familiar with the world of music since childhood. At the age of ten, she sang in the children's choir in Giacomo Puccini's Tosca at Dutch National Opera. During her studies at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Utrecht, she ended up at DNO again, as she was asked by the education department for an adaptation of Benjamin Britten's Billy Budd, which she created for and in collaboration with youngsters.
Afterwards Kenz started as freelance director and directed, for instance, Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro for Café Theater Festival and All Rise! by composer Jan-Peter de Graaff. She also followed a talent trajectory of two years at Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam and Paris. Here, she had the opportunity to assist important opera figures, such as Claus Guth, Lotte de Beer and Romeo Castellucci.
In 2019, she directed This is (not) a fairy tale at the Kameroperahuis, by composer Anne-Maartje Lemereis. 2020/2021 she made her own DNO direction debut - online, however - with the family production Goud!, which was performed in the Boekmanzaal later that season. How Anansi freed the stories of the World was her debut on our grand stage in November 2021.
