Joost Biegelaar

Joost Biegelaar (1970) studied theatre management at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. In 1992, he joined Nederlands Dans Theater 1, under the direction of Jiří Kylián, where he worked as part of the stage management team on productions and toured worldwide. After ten years with NDT 1, Biegelaar moved to the Lucent Danstheater in The Hague, where he served as technical director for five years.

Biegelaar is a freelance lighting designer at the moment. Along with this, he works regularly with Kylián Productions, supervising the technical elements of Kylián’s works as they are performed by ballet companies all over the world.
