György Kurtág

György Kurtág

Kurtág studied at the Franz Liszt-Musicacademy in Budapest and in the 1950s took lessons with art psychologist Marianne Stein and composers Olivier Messiaen and Darius Milhaud in Paris. György Kurtág's compositions, with their bare, concentrated and expressive style, have left an indelible mark on the development of twentieth-century music. At the age of 91 Kurtág completed his first, long-awaited opera with Fin de Partie.
