Gil Gomes Leal

Gil Gomes Leal is a dance and theatre maker and artistic director and founder of dance company Amenti. Besides creating and directing his own productions, Gil has worked with numerous artists such as singer Sevdaliza (movement director, choreographer, coach) and CloZee. In his career, Gil was nominated for many awards such as; 'de Zwaan,' and 'de Prijs van de Nederlandse Dansdagen'. Gil won the title of World Champion Experimental during Juste Debout in 2013. He was a finalist at Holland's Got Talent in 2017 and a solo dancer at the 2020 Eurovision final with Team Jeangu. His work is political, decolonising, and aesthetically interesting; it always carries a message wrapped in his own created terminology of neo-mythical concepts. Besides his artistic vision and work, he also developed a movement method that approaches people holistically; it is a way that deepens people's self-awareness through body and mind. Gil 'the Grid' Gomes Leal is a pioneer, a connector of worlds and people (hence 'the Grid'), and is engaged in abstracting the hip-hop dance forms, experimenting with combining knowledge from the contemporary dance and theatre world with his hip-hop background.
