Los Angeles-based composer Ethan Braun graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague and received his doctorate from Yale University. Working with methods that draw from improvisation, electronic media and European classical composition, Braun weaves together music from a broad spectrum of textual, musical and poetic references. Braun works primarily in interdisciplinary collaborations in film, dance and performance. Braun is at home in the concert hall, the gallery and on stage, and his work has been presented by Carnegie Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Gaudeamus Music Week, in addition to the Jewish Museum Frankfurt, the Statens Museum Kunst (Copenhagen) and the Kampnagel Theater (Hamburg). Braun released the records Rio Nílo 66, with Sam Gendel and Ulyssa, and READ ME, a recording of Braun's acoustic music, with Figureight Records. Upcoming projects include NEO DOME I: undercurrents of Idomeneo with Ariel Ashbel and Friends at the Nationaltheater Mannheim, and H-space-H with Isabel Lewis, Sissel Tolaas and the Soloist Ensemble Kaleidoskop.
