Dennis Diels

Dennis Diels started his career as an assistant to the lighting designer Jaak Van de Velde at NTGent, where he was later promoted to head of the lighting department. In that role, he was responsible for the lighting design for numerous productions. Directors he has worked with recently include Miet Warlop, Ersan Mondtag, Christof Marthaler, Milo Rau, Josse De Pauw, Johan Simons, Servé Hermans, Frank Van Laecke, Tom Lutz, Tiago Rodrigues and Tim Etchells. In addition to his work for NTGent, he has created lighting designs for Toneelgroep Maastricht, Opera Vlaanderen, Internationaal Theater Amsterdam, the Ruhrtriennale, Theater Transparant and Theater Rotterdam. Dennis Diels and Gregory Caers embarked together on their careers in theatre in 1997, and Diels created his first lighting design for a production by Gregory Caers, Angels, in 2003. This was followed by many other successful collaborations.
