He has worked with orchestras like the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Zürich, Ulster Orchestra, Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Hallé Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Kärntner Sinfonieorchester in Klagenfurt and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in the Concertgebouw. In 2014, he made his debut with the Nikikai Opera, with Madama Butterfly, following which he has performed regularly in Japan, with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Osaka Philharmonic and the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, among others. The operas he has conducted include Mefistofele, Nabucco and Tchaikovsky’s rarely performed The Sorceress. Other works in his repertoire are Britten’s War Requiem and Verdi’s Macbeth and Don Carlos. Rustioni has conducted at major opera houses like the Bayerische Staatsoper, La Scala, Teatro Regio Torino, Teatro La Fenice, Royal Opera House London, Opernhaus Zürich, Oper Stuttgart, Opéra national de Paris, Teatro Real Madrid and The Met New York.
