Sebia Plantefève-Castryck

Coryphée

Sebia Plantefève-Castryck (Adama, Ethiopia) was adopted at the age of four by a large Belgian family from the Flemish village of Kester, where four of her sisters were already dancing. When she was six, she started going to classes at the Ballerino dance school in Halle, and already at the age of ten she took part in the Youth America Grand Prix. Three years later, she was accepted for the Tanz Akademie Zürich in Switzerland, from which she graduated when she was sixteen. She continued her training for an extra year at the European School of Ballet in Amsterdam, during which time she also had the opportunity to perform at galas in Italy and Germany. In 2019, Sebia joined the Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company. Two years later, she joined the main company as an élève. She danced in the corps de ballet from 2022 and was promoted to coryphée as of the 2025–2026 season.
