CHRISTOPHE ROUSSET (conductor) studied harpsichord at the Schola Cantorum in Paris and at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Rousset is driven by his passion for vocal repertoire, and he founded his own ensemble, Les Talens Lyriques, in 1991, with whom he explores the Italian and French Baroque repertoire. He feels most in his element in the opera genre. He made his debut in de Munt Brussels in 2008 with Médée (Cherubini), followed by Semele (Händel) and both Iphigénies by Gluck. In recent years, he has performed Antigona (Traetta), La capricciosa corretta (Martín y Soler), Armida abbandonata (Jommelli) and Les Danaïdes (Salieri) with Les Talens Lyriques. He is also very fond of the repertoire of Lully, Rameau and Mozart. Christophe Rousset has received several French awards, including Knight in the National Order of Merit. Future productions include: Mitridate, re di Ponto (London), La morte d’Orfeo (Amsterdam), Rinaldo and Faust (Paris).
DNO productions: L'incoronazione di Poppea, Madrigals, Tamerlano, Alcina and Castor et Pollux
