Christof Loy is one of the most internationally sought-after opera and theatre directors of his generation. He has an intensive and long-standing collaboration with many of the world’s leading opera houses, such as Zürich Opera House, The Royal Opera House, The Royal Opera Stockholm and Theater an den Wien. In 2016, he won the award for ‘Best New Production’ for his Peter Grimes at the latter opera house at the International Opera Awards, where he was also named ‘Director of the year’ in 2017. At Dutch National Opera, he has directed many productions such as Arabella, Khovanshchina, La Forza del Destino and Tannhäuser. Loy has also directed for important opera festivals, such as Luisa Miller at Glyndebourne Festival (2021) and Così fan tutte for the Salzburger Festspiele (2021), where he will also direct a production of Il Trittico this summer.
