
Bonnie Beecher
Bonnie Beecher (Toronto, Canada) has created lighting designs for more than four hundred theater, opera, and dance productions and has won two Dora Mavor Moore Awards – Canada’s oldest theater awards – for her work.
Beecher’s designs have been featured in numerous Canadian theaters and festivals, including Shaw Festival Theatre, The Stratford Festival, Four Seasons Centre – for both the Canadian Opera Company and The National Ballet of Canada –, Opera Atelier, Soulpepper Theatre, The National Arts Centre, Tarragon Theatre, The Segal, and The Citadel. She has also designed for productions by Ballet British Columbia.
Outside Canada, she has created lighting designs for companies such as Dutch National Ballet (Dominique Dumais’ Woolf, 2009), American Ballet Theatre, l’Opéra Royal de Versailles, Pacific Northwest Ballet, the Royal Shakespeare Company, New Zealand Opera, Ballett Dortmund, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, and the State Ballet of Georgia. Beecher also designed the lighting for seven world premieres by Stuttgart Ballet and, between 2002 and 2016, created lighting designs for more than 25 world premieres for the ballet company of the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
