Bert Dalhuysen

Lighting designer

Lighting designer Bert Dalhuysen studied at the Academy of Photography and Photo Technology in The Hague. After graduating in 1978, he worked as a freelance photographer and lighting designer. In 1982, he became executive director of Arinde Visual Design studios in Amsterdam and in 1986 he joined the lighting team of Dutch National Opera & Ballet, where he was appointed deputy head in 2001. He was lighting supervisor and lighting designer with Dutch National Ballet and other Dutch and international companies until 2020.

Dalhuysen is currently working as a freelance lighting and multimedia designer for ballet, opera and theatre. He regularly works with choreographer David Dawson and designer Eno Henze.
