Lighting designer Bert Dalhuysen studied at the Academy of Photography and Phototechnology in The Hague. After graduating in 1978, he worked as a freelance photographer and lighting designer. In 1982, he was appointed executive director of Arinde Visual Design studios in Amsterdam and in 1986 he joined the lighting team of Dutch National Opera & Ballet, where he was appointed deputy head in 2001. He is currently lighting designer in residence at Dutch National Ballet. He also works as a freelance lighting and multimedia designer for ballet, opera and theatre. Dalhuysen regularly works with choreographer David Dawson and designer Eno Henze.
