Bassem Akiki

Bassem Akiki specialises in the contemporary repertoire and has conducted the world premieres of numerous works, mainly at La Monnaie in Brussels but also at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Malta Festival in Poznań and Opéra National du Rhin. In addition, he has worked with many orchestras and opera companies in his home country of Poland, including Polish National Opera and Sinfonia Varsovia. He recently made his debut at both the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Later this season, he will be conducting at the Finnish National Opera for the first time. At Dutch National Opera, he previously conducted the world premiere of Alexander Raskatov’s Animal Farm (2023).
