Australian-German director Barrie Kosky is one of the most sought-after directors in the world of opera and theatre. His productions have been presented at the Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera House London, Opernhaus Zürich, Opéra national de Paris, Bayerische Staatsoper München, the Salzburger Festspiele and the Festival d'Aix-en-Provence. Since 2012, he has been intendant and chief director of Komische Oper Berlin, a position he holds until the end of the 2021-2022 theatre season. At Dutch National Opera, he previously directed Gluck's Armide (2013). He now returns to Amsterdam for a three-year Puccini cycle: Tosca will be followed by Turandot and Il trittico.
