Barbara Drosihn

Costume design

Barbara Drosihn, born in Hamburg, studied costume design at the HAW Hamburg. After an education as a tailor, she worked as an assistant at the Thalia Theater Hamburg. She has worked with director Christof Loy for many years. She designed the costumes for the Opera Lucrezia Borgia at the Bavarian State Opera, Parsifal, Der Rosenkavalier and Der Ferne Klang for the Royal Opera Stockholm, Das Wunder der Heliane, Der Schatzgräber at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She also worked as a designer for Don Pasquale at the Zürich Opera House and Così fan Tutte at the Salzburger Festspiele. Another long collaboration connects her with the directress Tatjana Gürbaca, for whose Parsifal and The Flying Dutchman (Opera Ballet Vlaanderen),  she designed the costumes, as well as for Capriccio and the Ring trilogy at the Theater an der Wien, La finta giardiniera and Le Grand Macabre in Zürich and Katja Kabanova at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. At Dutch National Opera, Barbara worked as a costume designer for Gürbaca’s La Traviata.
