Audition for the Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet
Once per season, talented young dancers have the opportunity to audition for the Junior Company, the youth ensemble of Dutch National Ballet. This audition is exclusively intended for strong, classically trained dancers who will graduate from a professional ballet academy in the year of the audition or the following year.
The next audition for the Junior Company will take place on Saturday, 24 January 2026, and applies to the 2026–2027 season. On this page, you will find more information about the audition and the selection procedure.

Location: Dutch National Opera & Ballet, Amsterdam
Application deadline: 8 December 2025
Artistic Director Junior Company: Ernst Meisner (from August 2026 Artistic Director Dutch National Ballet)
Artistic Director Dutch National Ballet: Ted Brandsen (until July 2026)
Selection criteria
This audition is exclusively intended for strong, classically trained dancers who will graduate from a professional ballet academy this year or next year.
Application and selection procedure
You can apply for the audition until 8 December 2025 via this form. If you are selected, you will receive an invitation email with further details before 24 December 2025. If you are not selected, you will also receive a message by that date.
No individual requests will be considered before the audition; applications must be submitted via the application form.
