Surinamese-Dutch countertenor Arturo den Hartog began his singing career as an 8-year-old church singer in Suriname, where he also joined the choir school of St. Peter and Paul Cathedral in Paramaribo. In 2017, he moved to the Netherlands and continued his vocal studies at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, where he was taught by important vocalists such as Rita Dams, Catrin Wyn-Davies, Robin Blaze, Pascal Bertin and Peter Kooij. In addition, den Hartog won the audience award of the 2021 Princess Christina Competition. A versatile performer, den Hartog is primarily involved in opera, baroque and contemporary music productions. At Dutch National Opera, he has already featured in the Opera Forward Festival of 2020, 2021 en 2022, where he also performed with pianist Djuwa Mroivili, bringing music by black composers to the fore. This performance was also picked up by the popular show Podium Witteman, where the duo also performed and received high praise.
