Aernout Mik

AERNOUT MIK (director, sets and costumes) is a director and visual artist. He studied at the Minerva Academy and at De Ateliers. His first solo exhibition, entitled Primal gestures, minor roles (2000), was held in the Van Abbemuseum. He was awarded the Sandberg Prize (1997) and the Dr. A.H. Heineken prize for Art (2002). In 2007, Aernout Mik was selected to represent the Netherlands at the Venice Biennale. His works are included in various collections in the Netherlands and abroad. Exhibitions include: retrospective in the Museum of Modern Art in New York (2009), Communitas in Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume, in Paris (2011), Museum Folkwang, in Essen (2011), and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam (2013).
