Wout van Tongeren

Dramaturge

Wout van Tongeren studied Theather Teaching at the ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, after which he obtained a master's degree in Theatre Dramaturgy at the University of Utrecht. He then obtained both his Philosophy master’s and research master’s at the Radboud University. Furthermore, he spent several years teaching theatre history, philosophy and dramaturgy.

From 2013 to 2018 Wout worked as dramaturge and artistic coordinator at music theatre house Silbersee, where he worked on the productions Sarah's Passion, Woyzeck - a delusional opera and Homo Instrumentalis, among others. He also made he made an adaptation of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar together with Orkater and the Amsterdam Bostheater and in 2019 he worked with director Jorinde Keesmaat on Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at Opera Zuid. Since 2017, he has been a dramaturge at Dutch National Opera, where he recently worked with Kenza Koutchoukali on Leonard Evers' youth opera Goud! and How ANANSI freed the stories of the world.
