Baritone Thomas Johannes Mayer studied in Cologne with soprano Liselotte Hammes and bass Kurt Moll. Guest engagements brought him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, La Monnaie Brussels, Bayerische Staatsoper München, Opéra national de Paris, New National Theater Tokyo and the Royal Opera House, among others. His repertoire includes not only the great Strauss and Wagner roles, but also Moses in Arnold Schönberg’s Moses und Aron and Mizguir in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden. With Dutch National Opera, he previously sang Wotan/Der Wanderer in Wagner’s Ring (2012, 2013 and 2014) and Dreieinigkeitsmoses in Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny (2023).
