Countertenor

The young, Persian-Canadian countertenor Cameron Shahbazi is a rising star in the classical and baroque repertoire. He already performed the role of Tolomeo in a concert version of Giulio Cesare with the Moscow Chamber Orchestra, and he sang the title role in Tolomeo, Re d'Egitto at the Haendel  Festival 2022 of the Karlsruhe Badisches Staatstheater. Shahbazi made his opera debut at Oper Köln as First Angel/Boy in George Benjamin's Written on Skin. He also appeared as Disinganno in Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno at Theater Aachen, and was cover for Eustazio (Rinaldo) and Narciso (Agrippina) for the Glyndebourne Festival and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. At DNO, he has already appeared as Diaghilev in the world premiere of Willem Jeths Ritratto, a performance that was recorded and streamed due to the corona pandemic.
