Astrid van den Akker

Astrid van den Akker has worked as an assistant director for Dutch National Opera and the Nederlandse Reisopera since 2000. She was appointed to a permanent position at Dutch National Opera in 2008. Here, she has worked with Pierre Audi (Tamerlano and Parsifal), Andrea Breth (Macbeth and The Gambler), Simon McBurney (Die Zauberflöte) and Barrie Kosky (Turandot and Il trittico), among others. She was the revival director for operas including Turandot (directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff), Parsifal (directed by Pierre Audi), L‘amour des trois oranges (directed by Laurent Pelly) and Die ersten Menschen (directed by Calixto Bieito).
