Eva-Maria Westbroek
EVA-MARIA WESTBROEK (Donna Leonora) studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague and was coached by Iris Adami Corradetti and by James McCray, who is still her vocal mentor. The Dutch soprano won a prize at an international singing competition in Rome and made her professional debut as Tosca at the Teatro Manzoni in Milan. From 2001 to 2006, she was a member of the ensemble of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she sang a wide range of roles. Eva-Maria has become a world-famous and highly esteemed soprano. She has sung at nearly all the major opera houses and festivals in the world, including the festivals at Bayreuth and Aix-en-Provence, ROH Covent Garden, Opéra national de Paris, The Met New York, Wiener Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Teatro alla Scala, Semperoper Dresden and the Bayerische Staatsoper. She is particularly renowned for her interpretations of Sieglinde in Die Walküre, Katerina Izmailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, Minnie in La fanciulla del West, Maddalena in Andrea Chénier and the title roles in Francesca da Rimini, Jenůfa, Manon Lescaut and Kát’a Kabanová. This season’s roles include: Giorgietta in Il tabarro (Bayerische Staatsoper), Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana (The Met New York and La Monnaie in Brussels) and Katerina Izmailova in Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (ROH Covent Garden). Since 2014, she has been the ambassador of Musicians without Borders
