Pastora Flamenco Kids
Pastora Flamenco is the flamenco dance school led by flamenco dancer Pastora. Pastora lived and worked as a flamenco dancer and teacher in Andalusia and regularly returns. In addition to being a performer and creator, Pastora is a qualified and dedicated teacher. She teaches all ages in Amsterdam, Haarlem, Rotterdam, The Hague, and during workshops abroad. Her students are trained in rhythm, musicality, and essential flamenco technique, enabling them to express themselves. Students are regularly given the opportunity to perform, including at the Palais de Congrès in Paris, at Paradiso, Dansmakers, and now for Dutch National Opera & Ballet. In 2020, Pastora received the quality certificate from the Escuela Flamenco de Andalucía, an important flamenco institute in Malaga.
Pastora's Kids Flamenco Group now has a full repertoire! For Heel Amsterdam Danst, these children, aged four to ten, will present several short dances.

Stichting De Kids van Amsterdam Oost (KvAO) is a community of children and young people aged 5 to 25, focused on talent development in Dance, Theatre and Music. DAT! is a multidisciplinary youth theatre school at Buikslotermeerplein. This season, DAT! celebrates 15 years! Children take classes in theatre, dance, singing, visual arts, and film. Mind in Movement
Mind in Movement is a dance duo made up of Sophie Tukker and Carmine Vigliotti, who explore the connection between body and mind through movement. The shortened version of Beyond 26 examines how we communicate with one another — and how difficult it can be to truly be understood. The title refers to the 26 letters of the alphabet, but communication goes beyond words alone.
The dancers portray the dynamic between connection and distance, shifting between moments of intimacy and isolation. Through movement, they show how we can express ourselves without words — using glances, gestures and body language.

Lion dancing is an ancient Chinese tradition believed to bring luck and prosperity. It plays an important role in traditional Chinese religion and Chinese holidays. The lion has 8 emotions: aggression, hunger, fear, drunkenness, sleep, curiosity, excitement, and caution. A good lion dancer knows how to express these emotions during the lion dance, bringing the lion to life. Music plays an important role in the lion dance. Typically, the drum follows the movements of the lion, while the cymbals and gong follow the rhythm of the drum. The different movements of the lion each have their own rhythm.

Ellen Deckwitz has been Amsterdam’s City Poet since January 2024. Ellen is an acclaimed poet and writer. Known for her accessible poetry, she has several award-winning collections to her name, including De steen vreest mij and Hogere natuurkunde. In addition to her work as a poet, she is a columnist for NRC and De Morgen, and active as a performer and podcaster. As City Poet, she aims to bring poetry closer to the people of Amsterdam, with a special focus on young people.
