Within only a short space of time, Damiano Michieletto has emerged on the international scene as one of the most interesting representatives of the younger generation of Italian directors and is today among the most sought-after in the world. He studied opera and theatre production at the Paolo Grassi School of Dramatic Art in Milan and graduated in modern literature in Venice, his home town. His productions have won many prizes, including the Laurence Olivier, Irish Times, Casta Diva, Abbiati, Österreichischer Musiktheaterpreis, Reumert and Melbourne Green Room awards. At Dutch National Opera, he previously directed Il viaggio a Reims (2014) and Rigoletto (2016).
