Sophia Hunt

Brazilian-American soprano Sophia Hunt was born in New York and studied at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She is a member of Dutch National Opera Studio. In 2023, she won the Gerda Lissner Foundation International Vocal Competition

In December 2023, Sophia made her company debut with Dutch National Opera as Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and during the Opera Forward Festival in March 2024 she sang the soprano role in The Four Note Opera, which she repeats this season on a tour throughout the Netherlands. Last season she also sang the roles of Suor Dolcina and Prima conversa (Suor Angelica) and Nella (Gianni Schicchi) in Il trittico, conducted by Lorenzo Viotti. 

During season 2024–2025, Sophia will sing the role of Niece 2 in Dutch National Opera’s new production of Peter Grimes. Sophia’s position with Dutch National Opera Studio is supported by the New York Opera Foundation.
