Georgiy Derbas-Richter
Ukrainian baritone Georgiy Derbas-Richter studied at the Kyiv Conservatory and came to the Netherlands in the spring of 2022 to audition for Dutch National Opera Studio. When war broke out in his homeland, fundraising allowed him to be admitted to the Studio early. With Dutch National Opera, he sang the role of Second Witch in Dido and Aeneas at pop temple Paradiso, Morales in Bizet’s Carmen, Curio in Handel’s Giulio Cesare and he also participated in the Kings & Queens project. Furthermore, Georgiy particularly enjoyed the opera Rusalka, in which he performed the role of Lovec (the Hunter).
Georgiy: “My past year at the Dutch National Opera Studio has already been incredibly enlightening. I was able to gain a lot of experience on different stages and with different projects. Working and preparing for your roles with the coaches every day also helps you a lot. It is a great honour to be part of the Studio and in the coming year I simply want to keep growing and to keep developing myself in new productions and new roles.”
