Johanni van Oostrum

Soprano

South-African soprano Johanni van Oostrum has found worldwide success for her interpretations of roles by Strauss, Wagner, Mozart and Janáček. Her repertoire includes Elsa in Lohengrin, Leonore in Fidelio, as well as the title roles in Strauss’ Salome and Janáček’s Jenufa and Katja Kabanova. She has previously worked with conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Ivor Bolton and Adam Fisher and directors such as Tobias Kratzer, Barrie Kosky and Vera Nemirova. At Dutch National Opera she has previously sung the title role in Rusalka and the Marschallin in Der Rosenkavalier. She has performed the role of Agathe Der Freischütz many times, in London, Aix-en-Provence, Paris, Brussels, Vienna and Luxembourg and in Amsterdam at Dutch National Opera (2022). 

Johanni van Oostrum will sing the title role in Rusalka at Dutch National Opera in June 2023.
