Dutch baritone Michael Wilmering is at home in opera, song and oratorio. He is a welcome guest at both Dutch National Opera and Opera Zuid, and has sung in cities such as Paris, Ravenna, Rijeka, Stuttgart and Luxembourg. His repertoire includes roles such as Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, Ramiro in L'heure espagnole and Junior in Leonard Bernstein's A Quiet Place. Besides repertoire roles, he enjoys singing in new compositions. Recently, together with choreographer Peter Leung and director Monique Wagemakers, he created his self-created performance Grenze(n)loos with dancer Ahmad Joudeh, who fled Syria, and Japanese pianist Kanako Inoue. In 2019 he received an Award from the Operadagen Rotterdam for this creation. In 2022 he performed as Fürst Ottokar + Kilian in Der Freischütz and as Le Dancaire in Carmen at Dutch National Opera.
