James Platt

The British bass James Platt has been lauded for his expressivity in voice and performance. His repertoire includes roles such as Sarastro in Die Zauberflöte, Il Commendatore in Don Giovanni, Prince Gremin in Eugene Onegin and Hermann Ortel in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. He has performed in opera houses such as the Deutsche Oper (Berlin), the Royal Opera (London), and Teatro alla Scala (Milan) as well as at festivals such as Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and Glyndebourne Festival. With a passion for oratorio and concert repertoire, he has worked with conductors such as Sir Mark Elder, Mark Minkowski, Lars Vogt, Christian Curnyn, and David Hill. At Dutch National Opera he previously performed the role of First Soldier in Salome and Kuno in Der Freischütz (2022).
