Joachim Klein

Lighting design

Joachim Klein has worked as a lighting designer for Oper Frankfurt since 1994 and is head of its lighting department since 2013. Apart from his work at Oper Frankfurt, he has worked as a freelance designer in opera houses around Europe, amongst others for Staatsoper Hamburg, Teatro Real Madrid, English National Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper and Glyndebourne Festival. He has collaborated with directors such as Barrie Kosky, Christof Loy, David McVicar, Tobias Kratzer, Peter Konwitschny and Ted Huffman. For Dutch National Opera he previously designed the lights of Rodelinda (2020). His work will be featured again at our stage in May 2024 in Il trittico.

  • During season 2023-2024, Joachim Klein designs next to Il trittico, the light for Agrippina, to be seen from 13 to 28 January 2024.
