Gregory Caers

Stage director

Gregory Caers (1975) is a theatre director who specialises in bringing together experienced professionals and enthusiastic non-professional actors in theatrical and opera productions. His work is at the crossroads where theatre, dance and mime meet. He creates compelling, complex performances with abstract shapes and kinetic narrations. Caers’ work exudes a raw, unfiltered aesthetic that reverberates with the energy of youth. The stories he constructs appeal to young audiences and invite a dynamic exchange of emotions and ideas. Caers has worked with prestigious theatre companies and opera houses in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium, including Kopergietery, D'Haus Düsseldorf, Theater an der Parkaue Berlin, Het Nationale Theater, Hofpleintheater Rotterdam and the Oerol Festival. After his intriguing productions with students in previous editions of OFF, in 2025 he is working with a large group of young people from Rotterdam’s vocational theatre school, the Amsterdam student choir VU-Choir and students and graduates from art colleges around the Netherlands.
