Frankfurt-born Raphaela Rose currently works at the Oper Frankfurt, where she made her opera debut in 2017 designing costumes for Rinaldo, returning last season for new productions of Fauré's Pénélope, Rossini's La Gazetta and for a new production of Don Pasquale. She recently worked on Rusalka at the Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg. Since 2015 she has been a freelance costume designer, working with directors such as Jürgen Kruse, Ersan Mondtag and Oliver Reese. Recent projects were Die letzte Station with Ersan Mondtag at the Berliner Ensemble and Christian Franke's Das dritte Leben des Fritz at Theater Oberhausen. Before embarking on a freelance career, she worked for three years as an assistant at Schauspiel Frankfurt, where she also designed her first own costumes for people like Sebastien Jacobi, Florian Fiedler, Alexander Eisenach and Canadian choreographer Dave St. Pierre. She worked as an assistant in fashion and set design in New York before studying fashion design at the University of Trier from 2008 to 2013. She participated in the Ethical Fashion Show in Paris in 2011 as the winner of the Hessian Prize for Sustainability. After her studies, she qualified as a professional cutter for womenswear and her work was shown at the Fashion Week in Berlin.
