Leigh Melrose

British baritone Leigh Melrose is celebrated for his interpretations of contemporary opera and is considered a specialist in the field of twentieth-century opera repertoire. He previously appeared on the stage of Dutch National Opera in Louis Andriessen's Theatre of the World in 2016 and in the role of Clov in György Kurtág's Fin de Partie in season 2018-2019. Now, Melrose returns to DNO to sing the role of Kajin in Die ersten Menschen. He was closely associated with English National Opera and also sang in houses such as Teatro Real Madrid, Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala, Opernhaus Zürich, Komische Oper Berlin and Opera Vlaanderen. Besides many new works, he has sung roles such as Tadeausz Die Passagierin, Alberich in Das Rheingold, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung, and Golaud in Pelléas et Mélisande.
