Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Molinari began her musical training as a flutist, but began her vocal studies in 2009 and graduated from the Padua Conservatory. In 2015 she made her operatic debut as Zaida in Il Turco in Italia and quickly emerged as one of the leading bel canto specialists of the younger generation. As a member of the Accademia Rossiniana, several engagements followed at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, where she sang the role of Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia under Maestro Alberto Zedda, among others. At Dutch National Opera, she previously appeared as Angelina in Rossini's La Cenerentola. Last season, she sang in Donizetti's Queens in Concert.
