Allan Clayton
British tenor Allan Clayton studied at St John’s College, Cambridge, and at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He received an Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera (2025). At the Royal Opera House in London, he has performed a wide range of roles, including the title roles in Jephtha and Peter Grimes, Christian in Festen, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, and David in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. He has achieved major international successes with Peter Grimes at the Metropolitan Opera, Opéra national de Paris, Opera di Roma, and Teatro Real in Madrid, as well as with the title role in Brett Dean’s Hamlet at the Bavarian State Opera, Opera Australia, and Glyndebourne.
