Junior Company dances in Spain
Junior Company on tour
Between 20 and 30 October, the young dancers will give five performances in Spain: in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Murcia, Alicante, San Cugat and Alcobendas. They will be dancing a varied programme of classical, modern and contemporary work.
One of the works is No time before time, by choreographer and artistic coordinator of the Junior Company, Ernst Meisner. He created No Time Before Time for the dancers of the Junior Company. The dazzling, energetic work to the music of the same name by Alexander Balanescu is tailor-made for them. Young people are on the threshold between youth and maturity, at the exciting ages of eighteen to early twenties. During the creation of this work, there was plenty of scope in rehearsals for experiment and for input from the Junior Company dancers themselves. So this turned into a piece for, with and about them, as well as a piece of their own.
Le Corsaire (pas de trois) – Joseph Mazilier
Embers – Ernst Meisner
Ballet 101 – Eric Gauthier

Autumn Haze – Rudi van Dantzig
Trois Gnossiennes – Hans van Manen

The Junior Company kicked off on 1 August 2013. This season, the group comprises 13 talented young dancers, who come from every corner of the world. The Junior Company bridges the gap between professional dance training and a professional company: the National Ballet Academy (part of the Amsterdam University of the Arts) and the Dutch National Ballet.
