The Brazilian dancer Daniel Camargo will be joining Dutch National Ballet as a principal in August 2016. Camargo, who is currently a principal dancer with Stuttgarter Ballett in Germany, made his debut with Dutch National Ballet last December as a guest artist, dancing the role of the prince in The Nutcracker and the Mouse King.

Ted Brandsen, director of Dutch National Ballet:
“Daniel is a fantastically gifted dancer with strong technique and a great stage personality. He is also a very versatile classical dancer, a good partner and an exceptional interpreter of the modern repertoire. He is in great demand as a guest artist at international ballet galas, and his guest performance in The Nutcracker and the Mouse King prompted the decision to invite him to join our company”.

Daniel Camargo:
“First of all I would like to thank Reid Anderson and the Stuttgart Ballet for all these years. I’ve had an amazing time and I have learned so much with this company. I am very happy to know that now I can take this little bag of experiences and share them with a new company and experience new challenges - especially with the big range in classical ballet that the Dutch National Ballet has to offer. I am looking forward to dance again on this huge stage and finding myself in different roles. I am also looking forward to living in the beautiful city of Amsterdam.”
