PETER SELLARS (director) is a renowned American theatre and opera director. He is known mainly for his unique modern stagings of classic and contemporary works, including Don Giovanni (situated in Harlem, New York), Le nozze di Figaro (in a luxurious apartment in Trump Tower) and Handel’s Orlando (in space).
Together with John Adams, he worked (as a director and librettist) on Nixon in China, Doctor Atomic and Girls of the Golden West (to be presented by DNO in the 2018-2019 season). He has also staged various world premieres for composer Kaija Sraahio, including the recent production of Only the Sound Remains. Sellars has led the Los Angeles Festival, Adelaide Festival, the Viennese New Crowned Hope and the Ojai Music Festival. He is also a professor in the department of World Arts and Cultures, at UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles).
