The South Korean dancer Young Gyu Choi has been promoted to the rank of principal with Dutch National Ballet. Director Ted Brandsen announced his promotion after the series of performances of The Nutcracker and the Mouse King. Gyu Choi danced the role of the prince in The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, and received the news of his promotion on stage in front of his fellow dancers and colleagues when the curtain fell on the last performance. Young Gyu Choi (Seoul, South Korea) has been dancing with Dutch National Ballet since 2011 and was promoted to soloist in 2013. Before coming to the Netherlands, he danced with the Korean National Ballet.
