Carla Nahadi Babelegoto

Mezzo-soprano

Carla Nahadi Babelegoto studied both singing at the Accademia della Musica in Milan and Energy Engineering. She has a rich background in both early and contemporary music and has extensive experience performing alongside dance companies. She sang the role of Sama in the opera Woman at Point Zero by Bushra El-Turk, which premiered at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2023 and later at the Royal Opera House and All Arias Festival in Belgium. In 2021, she sang the role of Sister Leopard in How Anansi freed the stories of the world by Neo Muyanga. Her repertoire also includes roles such as Melissa in Le fate by Ristori and Pulcheria in Riccardo Primo by Handel. She also performed in the dance shows Cesena by Anna Teresa de Keersmaeker and Vlaams by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. She has collaborated with esteemed ensembles like the Collegium Vocale Gent and various other notable groups within the early music community.
