Jan Philipp Gloger


The German director JAN PHILIPP GLOGER studied applied theatre sciences at Giessen University and directing at Zurich University of the Arts. Since 2007, he has directed theatre productions in Berlin, Dresden, Hamburg and Munich.

He also worked as the theatre director of the State Theatre of Mainz from 2011 to 2013. Jan Philipp Gloger’s work has been presented at various festivals, including the Ruhrtriennale, the Stückemarkt Heidelberg and the Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen. He received the audience award at the Mülheimer Theatertage and the directing award at the Bayerische Theatertage. He made his debut as an opera director in 2010 with Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro with Theater Augsburg. This was followed by Alcina and Simon Boccanegra (Semperoper Dresden), Der fliegende Holländer (Bayreuther Festspiele), Idomeneo (Oper Frankfurt), Faust and La verità in cimento (Oper Zürich). In 2016, the premiere of his production of Il barbiere di Siviglia took place in Musiktheater Essen.
