Dramaturge

Claus Spahn is a German dramaturg, author, and librettist. His main interests lie with contemporary music, the baroque repertoire, and the development of new musical-theatrical concepts. Since 2012, Spahn has been head of dramaturgy at Opernhaus Zürich. There, he established a close artistic partnership with Christian Spuckwith whom he has collaborated on productions of Anna Karenina, Messa da Requiem, Nutcracker and Mouse King and Das Mädchen mit den Schwefelhölzern. He also worked as a dramaturge for composers Heinz Holliger, Wolfgang Rihm and Helmut Lachenmann, among others, as well as directors Sebastian Baumgarten, Herbert Fritsch, Jan-Philipp Gloger, Tatjana Gürbaca, Andreas Homoki, Barrie Kosky and David Marton.
