Opera Studio live op Radio 4
On 17 April, the singers and pianists of the Dutch National Opera Studio will almost completely take control of the broadcast of NTR Operalive, the opera program of NPO Radio4. They will be heard in a specially composed program with pieces of music that together tell the story of the first part of Goethe's Faust.
The songs and arias are linked by a narration of the short content of the story and by a number of scenes from Goethe's play, played by actress Jouman Fattal and bass-baritone Frederik Bergman. This set-up also offers a unique opportunity to hear interpretations of the same text by different composers: for example, we hear the scene of Gretchen at the spinning wheel in spoken form and as composed by Berlioz, Schubert, Loewe and Verdi. Verity Wingate and Frederik Bergman will also be performing live in the studio of the radio house on April 17.
