On Monday 19 November, the 21st edition of the Dutch Ballet Gala was given by Stichting Dansersfonds ’79  in the ITA (Stadsschouwburg), in Amsterdam. This year was a special edition of the Ballet Gala, as it was dedicated to Ted Brandsen, artistic director of Dutch National Ballet.

Tribute was paid to Ted Brandsen for the work he has done with Dutch National Ballet. Under his leadership, the company has gained its place among the top international ballet companies.

Ex-dancers from Dutch National Ballet and founders of Dansersfonds '79, Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar, said:

“By always making the right decisions, Ted has ushered in a new heyday for Dutch National Ballet. It has become a leading international company, which presents the great classical repertoire, while also continuing to cherish and inspire contemporary dance”.

The Ballet Gala included performances by several companies. Dutch National Ballet danced Déjà Vu by Hans van Manen. The Junior Company performed Van Manen’s ballet In the Future. Scapino Ballet presented a duet from the production TING! and Nederlands Dans Theater danced the duet Schubert by choreographers Sol León and Paul Lightfoot.
