Marc Albrecht leaves Amsterdam in 2020

Marc Albrecht, chief conductor of Dutch National Opera and The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, has decided not to renew his current contract. After ten intensive and fruitful years, he will return to his own international career in mid 2020. Just like Dutch National Opera and The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, Albrecht considers the collaboration very pleasant. All parties are looking forward to two more beautiful seasons with each other.

Marc Albrecht (53) conducted Schönberg's Gurre-Lieder at Dutch National Opera in April and May. In May he will perform with The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra in The Royal Concertgebouw with Symphonie Fantastique by Berlioz. Albrecht conducted Gurre-Lieder at Dutch National Opera as early as 2014. Rarely a scenic world premiere has been received as passionately as it was then. After 2020, Marc Albrecht will return as guest conductor to both The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra and Dutch National Opera.
