Nathalie Stutzmann
The French conductor and contralto Nathalie Stutzmann studied orchestral conducting with the legendary Finnish teacher Jorma Panula. She is currently the music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. From 2021 to 2024, she was the Philadelphia Orchestra’s principal guest conductor. In 2023, she made two prestigious opera debuts, at the Metropolitan Opera in New York and at the world-famous Bayreuth Festival. Her achievements resulted in a prize for Best Conductor at the Oper! 2024 Awards. In 2026, she will return to Bayreuth for the 150th anniversary edition of the festival, with a new production of Rienzi. Stutzmann performed at Dutch National Opera back in 2001, when she sang the role of Giulio Cesare in Handel’s opera of the same name. Now she is returning as the conductor for Tosca.
