Lorenzo Viotti has been the principal conductor of Dutch National Opera and the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra since September 2021. The young Franco-Swiss conductor is one of the rising stars in the world of opera and the symphonic repertoire. In 2017, he was named 'best newcomer' at the International Opera Awards. He has conducted at the opera houses of Zurich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Paris and Milan, among others. He has conducted several prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. With Dutch National Opera, he has previously conducted the double bill Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci, Der Zwerg and Missa in tempore belli.
